In the sequel to the charming romantic heist story, Mrs. Chartwell and the Cat Burglar, we discover what happens after the happily ever after. Abigail and Tony are married now, with everything that comes with it, back to their normal (ha!) lives after the intrigue and adventure of their previous adventures, which means that all of their issues are still present, such as Tony’s criminal past and Abigail’s anxieties and emotional wounds. Abigail’s professional ambitions also get the spotlight here, as her efforts to bring a prestigious map exhibit to her beloved library come to fruition. However – and there’s always one of those – Tony’s can’t escape his life of thievery completely and his baggage complicates their new life together. I really loved that Abigail got to be a competent professional in this story! Her job is important to her and she has worked hard to achieve her position. And I also loved how they worked through their difficulties, separately and together, never pretending that because they loved each other, that they didn’t have to talk about things. And of course, there’s some fun heist-y action because everyone loves a little intrigue, right? Trusting the Cat Burglar is great read, emotionally satisfying and gripping with a balance of romance and adventure. I loved going on the ride with Abigail and Tony as they sorted out their relationship and solidified their commitment to each other to become true partners. (I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Thanks!)

Trusting the Cat Burglar is the second in the Russo Romantic Mystery series. I found it just as enjoyable as the first. Abigail and Tony are now married after a whirlwind romance, starting when thief Tony not so innocently dropped into Abigail's library and life.
Abigail believes all her dreams are coming true. Besides finding love again with Tony, a collector of famous and priceless maps wants to include his pieces in her library. She is looking forward to the publicity for the library and the prospect of tenure. But then…
Tony and the collector meet, and not for the first time.
Abigail struggles with learning who to trust.
Again, Pamela Gossiaux's book is thoroughly thought out, with well-developed characters, and keeps the reader turning pages to see what's going to happen next. If you are new to the Russo Romantic Series, I suggest starting at the beginning so you don't miss a thing.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This, the second book in the series, opens with Tony up to his old tricks, coming down through a ceiling on a rope to steal a fifth-century Grecian vase or is he? Black Cat Security is around to ensure that valuables are protected from characters like Tony who know how to do a burglary well. Tony provides practical help to beef up security systems and provides the practical testing to go with it.

Abigail, formally a young widow and book-lover, is now Tony's wife. They have only been married for 6 weeks having only met 9 weeks ago! Yes, a whirlwind romance that can be read about in Book 1 of this series, Mrs. Chartwell and the Cat Burglar. Abigail continues to work at the university library and is in fact getting excited about the possibility of being offered a tenure due to her extensive knowledge on ancient maps and the fact that she has managed to secure a collection of maps for display from a new collector, Jean-Pierre Mauvais. Alas, what appears to be a great business deal is complicated by the fact that when Abigail shows Tony the picture of Jean-Pierre he recognizes him from his past when he was on the other side of the law!

Tony tries to tell Abigail that Jean-Pierre is a VERY dangerous man albeit appearing to be very charming. I love the way Tony doesn't keep his past a secret and shares with Abigail what happened and why he refused to work with Jean-Pierre again way back when. Tony and Abigail are very much in love and Tony realizes what this map collection means to Abigail thus he agrees to work with Jean-Pierre. (Tony is providing the security for the university library.) Abigail thinks she can handle Mauvais.

Personally, Tony struggles with feeling not good enough for Abigail. His community service is taxing but it is much better than jail. Now things get really complicated with Jean-Pierre on the scene. Jean-Pierre has not forgiven Tony for "letting him down" in the past. What will he demand? Can Tony and Abigail get the better of him? Will Abigail be blindsided by Jean-Pierre's supposed charm? Is an invitation somewhere too good to be true?

This well-written, fictional novel is Christian based but not preachy. Please remember that this book is about a married couple. Whilst there are NO sex scenes it is obvious, and rightly so, that the couple are intimate and thoroughly enjoying the benefits of married life as they should. I did find the doubts and mistrust a little irksome. Yes, a spat between husband and wife is normal but all this? HOWEVER I also realize that this is a fictional story, hyperbole is allowed and Abigail did marry an ex-criminal! It can also serve as a help to those who are newly wed. Whilst a complete story in itself I believe that you will enjoy it more having read the first book in the series before this one. This one also sets the stage for Book 3.

I was provided a copy of this book by the author. That has not influenced the above review, the thoughts and opinions of which are my own. Thanks, Liz
After two short months Abigail and Tony Russo are newlyweds and enjoying every minute of it, until Tony’s checkered past comes back to haunt him in the guise of suave Frenchman Jean-Pierre Mauvais. Mauvais sweeps into view at the library where Abigail works, promising his treasured collection of historic maps to Abigail to put on display. Abigail, a map aficionado herself, is beside herself with excitement, not only for landing the priceless map collection but because of what the collection will mean for her career as a librarian. Not only is she promised a trip to Paris, but she’s a shoe-in for tenure as well. However, when new hubby Tony hears the name Jean-Pierre Mauvais he’s anything but excited. Tony knows Mauvais for what he is, a thief, and suspects Mauvais might have an ulterior motive for contacting his wife and dangling the proverbial carrot before her. But will Abigail believe Tony before it’s too late? Or will Tony be forced to take matters into his own hands and risk jeopardizing his marriage to save the woman he loves? These are just some of the delicious dilemmas author Pamela Millard Gossiaux explores in book 2 of the Russo Romantic Mystery Series.
