Editorial Reviews

Reading Eating and Dreaming Reviews ~ I think this was a great addition to the Moreno Brother series. Each novel in this series highlights a major conflict that young adults can easily relate to. I really appreciate that and applaud Reyes for incorporating realistic conflicts and characters in her novels

YA Indie Princess Reviews ~ What can I say Elizabeth Reyes has once again blown me away I loved Sofie's novel and her and Eric are just meant to be. I was super happy when I saw this had been released on .co.uk sad that I will even say this but I did a happy dance. I can't wait to read the next two books in the amazing series.

Mteja- GoodReads reviewer ~ I devoured this book from beginning to end in one sitting. Now I'm sleep deprived but it was worth it. Sweet Sofie is a delicious read for anyone who's a fan of an forever-and-ever kind of a love story.

Tasha –GoodReads reviewer ~ I went into Sweet Sofie thinking I already knew their story from reading Forever Mine and Always Been Mine. Asking myself, "What more can be left to say?" However, I was still excited to read it out of my love for the former books and my new (ever-growing) loyalty for their author. But I was so wrong! Elizabeth Reyes took this story to an incredible height, that I did not see coming. Eric and Sofia are absolutely amazing together. There is not a dislikable character in this book. Nor, is there a thing to be changed, 5 stars no doubt about it!

Short Teaser

Eric stood up. Something pierced into his chest. “What did you do?”
Tears rolled down her cheeks. “He just wanted to show me a gun his dad got for—”
“What did you do, Sofia?” He wasn’t sure if anyone was home and he didn’t care. He raised his voice, feeling on the verge of losing it. “What the fuck did you do in his bedroom that has you crying?”

Sweet Sofie is just that...SWEET. This is the 2nd book I have read in this series and I am hooked!

Sofie is the only girl in the family so while I have only read the first book, I figured this one would have a different feel to it because of that. And, it did...for me, in a good way. It's just a really sweet story of Sofie coming of age and her finally being able to share her feelings about Eric who she has been in love with since a child. It's fun to see the Moreno brothers and friends as kids since this story starts while Sofie is in grade school. You get to see the history and how, of course, the brothers and friends were completely over protective of Sofie. And, you also get to learn about Eric and see things from his point of view too in regards to Sofie. There is some angst/drama but what's a good romance story without it? I read a few reviews that were annoyed that the drama was over a kiss but remembering who and what Sofie and Eric was all about, this made sense to me and if there had been more of a betrayal, I think it would have ruined the story for me. Sofie is again, the sweet girl with eyes only for Eric.

Now, I do wish 2 things were addressed in the story in regards to Eric -SPOILER- don't read further if you don't want to know...

I would have liked to known just how promiscuous Eric had been. This is never addressed really and it bothered me that Sofie let him know she was waiting for him but he nevers says anything back to her. And, second, I think he should have fessed up to Sofie about what he did in Spain...dancing, holding hands, partying, and he licks her lips...ok, it's not a kiss but I feel like his actions were worse than Sofies and that wasn't addressed.
Otherwise, it's a super sweet story and I will contine with the series!

Sweet Sofie The Moreno Brothers edition by Elizabeth Reyes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

If you are the only girl in a house full of brothers, then this is a story that you will want to read, just for the fact that Elizabeth Reyes really knows how to put that kind of thing into words. Who can Sofie turn to when her brothers constantly watch over her and threaten death to any guy dumb enough to look at her longer than 5 seconds?? Eric, of course! He's friends with Sofie's brothers and has been around Sofie for so long that her brothers don't see him as an issue to deal with regarding Sofie. Little do her brothers, and Sofie herself, know that Eric has loved her most of his life, but knows it would cause him bodily harm from her brothers, he never acted on or hinted that he had feelings beyond being brotherly. When Sofie reveils her love and affection to Eric, he finds the courage to do the same. Being Sofie Moreno's first boyfriend comes with serval sets of challenges. Not only her brother's tempers, but Sofie's as well, and dealing with the rest of the world when they realize Sofie has grown up in all the right places and that she has entered the dating scene. Love has it's challenges and when Eric and Sofie enter their own fight for each other, how will it end?? Well, read the book and find out!
Sofie's story is cute and gives us a look at the Moreno sister who has giver her brothers a run for their money!

Sofie hates how protective her big brothers are. She has to find ways to get around the hold they have on her. The brothers are your typical Mexican Macho protectors. Sofie, your typical girl curious about life and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. What she wants and needs is Eric, her brothers best friend.

In this book we see Sofie grow up, from a little girl into a young woman who proves to those around her that no matter how much she is hovered will experience life on her terms.

Eric is a sweetheart. I wish we could of gotten more on him and how he and Sofie continued to grow as a couple. Their start was rocky and they overcame an obstacle that would have been the end for many. Oh and I want to know more about his daddy. )
--spoilers--

So Sofia has spent her whole life unable to mingle with guys her own age due to her overbearing brothers and their friends. Her father has apparently decided she's a fragile, special snowflake, unable to experience life for herself without making catastrophic mistakes or being molested if she talks to boys, and has made her brothers responsible for her every move. Is this an Hispanic thing? I have personally never seen my own friends be this afraid of their own brothers.

I have read Angel's and Alex's books, and while they were interesting, the jealousy and overly excessive possessiveness was starting to wear on me. Alex's spying, and Romero's nosiness & inability to mind his own d**n business when it came to Valerie was particularly galling. I had higher hopes for Eric's book, because he seemed calmer and more level-headed than the other guys. Boy, was I wrong. The first part of the book, I kept waiting for him to grow a pair and own up to his feelings about Sofia, and stop being such a pansy when it came to Sofia's brothers/family. However, Sofia had to do most of the work in order to date him.

A few years down the road, Eric is interning in another city for the summer, and has little time to spend with Sofia. She's spent her life without being able to date, kiss, or even hold hands with any guy but Eric. She goes jogging a couple of times with a childhood friend, (Brandon) shares one fairly innocent kiss with him, feels the need to confess this "sin" to any body who will listen, and her brothers and Eric lose their freaking minds about the whole thing. Girlfriend, shut the he!! up. After Eric magnanimously forgives her, he ends up going to Spain for a month for another internship. More drama ensues due to Brandon talking to Sofia (talking!!) and Eric once again freaks out. Sofia has to spend weeks without talking to Eric, while simultaneously looking over her shoulder to avoid Brandon in case he tries to TALK to her and then having to confess this scandalous occurrence to all the men in her life. Meanwhile in Spain, Eric spends a couple weeks with an attractive girl, getting pecked on the lips and felt up, slow dances with her, goes sightseeing with her, goes to a concert with her, while holding her hand, licking her bottom lip, and even pretending to be her boyfriend at one point. After he comes home and he and Sofia reunite, HE NEVER TELLS SOFIA ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. What?! How is this in any way fair? This is in addition to some previous sketchy episodes involving other girls while in high school. I've never wanted to smack a fictional character more than I want to smack Eric. What a douchecanoe.

I've also read Ms. Reyes' 5th Street series, which I've enjoyed more. At this point, I'm not sure I want to spend more time or money on the overly possessive, macho, chauvinistic Morenos and friends. I like alpha characters, but the relationships portrayed between these guys and their girlfriends are borderline unhealthy. I would be honestly concerned for my own daughter dating this type of guy in real life.
